The Innovation Center (IC) is a "launching pad" to introduce new, cutting edge ideas and support APHSA's members and other leaders in thoughtful, focused experimentation and discussion to find new Pathways to improve how health and human services are provided in this country. The Center aims to help create a new national narrative about the role and impact of public health and human services. Aligning with other APHSA initiatives, the IC is organized around the 10 key features of a 21st Century Business Model, shown on the left-hand side of this page, developed by the National Collaborative for Integration of Health and Human Services. Attending to each key feature can strengthen an agency's progression along the Human Services Value Curve. The introductory text for each key feature identifies agency characteristics or actions most promising for long-term sustainable impact. In 2016, we will be initiating an annual series of webinars on innovation and establishing a community network that will enable mentoring and communication between peers and experts exploring new frontiers in policy, programs, and practice. Technical assistance to support innovation design and implementation is also available through the APHSA Organizational Effectiveness team.
The Innovation Center seeks to draw knowledge from across all Health and Human Services sectors and share it to create synergy for progression along the Human Services Value Curve. From our members and partners, we hear stories about creative initiatives, innovative ideas, and exciting new programs, to improve the lives of people. We are very excited to introduce the Stories from the Field Interactive Map, a platform to promote and share these stories.
